What to Put on a Curriculum Vitae?

Some CVs can be all over the place, and human resource departments at most businesses are not going to want that. One glance at a poorly-written CV can cost you a chance of even getting interviewed for your dream job -- especially when the competition is fierce. So, what do you really need to put on your Curriculum Vitae? Let’s find out.

Personal Profile

You should put your full name, personal email address, and mobile number. You don’t necessarily need to put your home address, but make sure you include a smart front-facing photo of yourself. Make sure the photo is recent. Do not put other personal information, such as your national insurance number and other sensitive information.

Education Section

Make sure you put  in your educational history, but you don’t have to go far back as secondary school if it isn’t relevant - though post-16 colleges may be useful. If you attended a prestigious school, then you may want to include that on your CV.

Key Skills

Make sure you include a list of core skills and tools you are proficient in, and again, make sure it is relevant to the job posting and professional experience you are trying to obtain.

Employment history

Let’s say you are a nurse or a nursing student, trying to get a job as a nursing assistant. Only put relevant experience of your employment history that is related to the job description. If your CV gets too long, you don’t need to put in a job you worked when you were in secondary school - not unless you think it is related to your nursing career or job application.

Keywords

Most HR managers look for the relevant keywords related to the job title . If you are not sure which keywords work best, applying for a job means you have to invest in CV templates.
